The article on “The Non-Fiction Renaissance” is really thought-provoking – I remember Aslan’s horrific interview with Fox News and have heard some of his other interviews over the radio, and hopefully I’ll have the chance to read his books some time. I liked that he pushed more for good and bad writing as the deciding “genre” rather than fiction and non-fiction works, but I think Aslan and Dyer are the minority in the reading world; most authors and readers can’t make the jump between fiction and non-fiction, and it would be interesting to see why that connection can be made for some people and not for others. (Maybe personal history/experience or personality are factors?)

Thanks Sophie! I thought that article was particularly interesting too. I definitely think that a lot of the things good fiction needs are also the things I look for in non-fiction. Even though the events are factual, the author generally has to make the facts into a story with a gripping plot and relatable characters for me to enjoy their work. I hope you had a great weekend too
