10. You find yourself swearing off netgalley… after just one more request.

9. You’re sad when all of your holds come in at the library at once.

8. Your to-read pile is taller than you are.

7. You’ve devoted an entire calendar/app to your blogging schedule.

6. You’ve started rooting against yourself in giveaways, but can’t help entering because that book just looks so exciting!

5. You return books to the library at night to avoid going in because you just know you couldn’t resist checking out more books.

4. You avoid bookstores for the same reason.

3. You need a spreadsheet to keep track of which books you own. Or maybe you just like spreadsheets. Don’t judge :)

2. You relocate your food or other belongings to make space for your books (in my case it was a bookshelf repurposed to store food and then changed back to a bookshelf, but still…)

1. Your significant other actually wants you to buy another bookshelf because it would be better than all the piles everywhere.

I love this post! I’ve definitely experienced a few of these myself. I’ve gotten rid of furniture to make room for bookshelves and if I ever tried to stack up my TBR pile, I would fear for my life. ‘Tis the curse of the bookworm, lol.

    • Before I started blogging, I was a lot more likely to read the books I bought. Now that I have ARCs and am going to the library more often, I have so many books with deadlines, I really have to work at getting to the ones I own! The curse of the bookworm indeed :)

This is hilarious! And completely true! I definitely try to avoid the library at times because I just can’t help myself; I always get more books. I have a little more self-control in bookstores because, well, money, but I still always come out with something!

    • I agree, bookstores are definitely easier! I do on rare occasions make it out of a bookstore without buying something, but never leave the library empty handed.

Do you think it sad I can relate to each and every one of these to some degree? Love it!!

This really just made me want to stack mine and find out if my to-read pile is taller than me. I might just squeak by, but only because I’m pretty tall! Maybe that’ll be a summer project.

LOL, guilty as charged! I love #6 – I don’t think I’ve ever rooted against myself winning, but I probably should!

    • I don’t know that I actively root against myself, or I really wouldn’t enter, but I do sometimes win and then wonder when I’ll have time to read the book! :)

  12. Rachael @ Rachael Turns Pages

It is always when I’m reading a book I own that all my library books come in. I’m hosting the Library books readathon in June to help people get down on their stack of library books. I loved this post. It is so creative and also true. There will always be more books than time to read.

Love this list! It’s so true (I found myself prying myself off NetGalley earlier today; so many interesting books were posted but I’m going to be so busy in the next few months ;_;)

LMAO, I do #3 xD Need to keep track of all my books–both seen and unseen! :D

    • It can be so hard to not just browse netgalley when you’re bored and it’s far too easy to request too many books! I don’t currently use a spreadsheet to track all of my books, just what I’m reading now, but I should! At the moment, I can lose track of ebooks pretty easily if I’m not careful.

    • I think that’s one of the most important ones for me! I hadn’t been to a bookstore in a while and I thought “I’ll just go the library sale with friends, for fun, and not buy anything”. Obviously this ended in a stack of books coming home with me :)

  19. Melissa W.

You have about 50 books signed out from two different library systems… (that’s me and its probably close to about 60).

So much love! I have found myself avoiding bookstores lately, or trying to resist going into my favorite sections at least! I am successful at resisting most giveaways though, since I’d rather someone else read that book if they are really excited for it ;-). My significant other actually made me a bookshelf because he knows me so well :D
