Thorn – A Singular Cover Reveal

ThornCoverReveal

This cover reveal is singular in two respects. First, I’d like to begin with a promise that cover reveals and canned content aren’t going to become a thing. Participating in a cover reveal is something I’m doing on this occasion because of the second unique thing about this cover reveal. It is a cover reveal for a book I enjoyed immensely and I think it was an unusually good decision to redesign the cover. The new design reflects the fact that this isn’t just another young adult story about a princess. Although those can be good too, this is something far more unique.

As I mention in my review, this book was a much darker story than I expected from the pretty, pink cover. Aside from the beauty of the new cover, I like that it conveys the darker side of this story. As a retelling of the Goose Girl, it’s only fitting that Thorn have a darker side. If you’ve ever read the original, it’s pretty dark too! I also liked that the darker, more dangerous edge to this fairy tale really gave our heroine a chance to shine. I’d hate to have someone else pick this up and dislike it simply because the contents were such a surprise. I love this new cover and think it accurately represents the awesome story inside.

Hi Katie – Thanks so much for bringing Thorn back to your blog. It’s been a long road learning the ins and outs of indie publishing, and cover design has definitely been a learning experience for me! I think this new cover has finally gotten where I wanted to go for this story–so glad you agree! Thanks again for all your support and kindness. :)

LOL – so glad it’s approved! I love what my cover designer, Jenny, did with the jewel toned colors, and how well she brought in different aspects of the story.
