I’m excited to be back to the Nonfiction Book Club! Today we’re kicking off the September read-along and picking our October read. This is a little bit of a long one, but as always for the Nonfiction Book Club, you can read on your own schedule and post your answers to the discussion questions as you like. Let’s get started! The discussion questions will be available on the following days:

BookClubLogoSpecificBookAnnouncement

Woo! I’m so excited to have time to start getting back into blogging events in the coming months, starting with an announcement for the September Nonfiction Book Club read.  I hope you’re all still interesting in picking up the book that received the most votes back in May, because that’s how I picked this read.  Based on a recommendation from Lory at The Emerald City Book Review, I know I can’t wait to read The Age of Wonder! We’ll be starting reading on September 1st, so feel free to grab a copy and join in.

BookClubLogoSpecificBookAnnouncement

Happy May everyone! Today is the first day of our Just Mercy read-along and if I’m honest, I’m a little nervous that I’ll find it as tough and lacking in answers as Missoula. I’m sure even if that’s the case it will be worthwhile which should make for some good discussion. When you’re ready to jump into the discussion, the google doc is open. Here’s our schedule for this month and the poll for next month’s pick:

#NFBookClub The Reason I Jump Discussion – Part 2

April 24, 2016 Uncategorized 6

BookClubLogoSpecificBook

As busy as I was this month, I was glad we picked such a short book, especially since it was so informative anyway. However, I don’t have a whole lot to add to our previous discussion. I’ve come up with a few questions, but feel free to add your own commentary or re-answer any of the questions from last time as well if anything has changed for you in the second half of the book. #NFBookClub May Read-Along Announcement

April 14, 2016 Uncategorized 4

BookClubLogoSpecificBookAnnouncement

With almost half the votes, the winner of the poll for our May read is Just Mercy. I’m expecting another tough, but worthwhile read from this one. I’m also hoping I’ll enjoy it more than Missoula, but we’ll see! In the comments or by e-mail (doingdewey [at] gmail [dot] com), please let me know if there are any books you’d particularly like to see in our poll for June. I’ve started a goodreads shelf of suggestions and you can suggest additions or second books already on the list. Thanks everyone for making these monthly read-alongs so much fun!

For such a short book, this really packs a punch. I’m enjoying learning from it and it’s not so bad to have a short, easy read either. I hope you’re all liking it so far too! If you want to jump in on the discussion, the google doc is here. Be sure to vote for next month’s read too and let me know if you have any suggestions for books for next month’s poll (picking the June read). Here are some discussion questions for the first part of this book: Read more »

#NFBookClub The Reason I Jump Read-Along and May Poll

BookClubLogoSpecificBookAnnouncement

Happy April everyone! It’s time to start our April read-along of The Reason I Jump. I’m particularly excited to be reading this book because I feel as though I’ve read a lot of fiction including characters with Autism, but am sadly undereducated on the accuracy of these fictional accounts. Thanks again to Rachel at Hibernator’s Library for the suggestion that we pick a book on autism for Autism Awareness Month and thank you all for suggesting some great possibilities. When you’re ready to jump into the discussion, the google doc is open. Here is our schedule for the month and a poll for next month’s pick:

April 1st-14th: Read Intro – Never Ending Summer

April 10th – Intro – Never Ending Summer Discussion Questions Posted

April 15th-31st – Read A Story I Heard Somewhere – I’m Right Here

April 22nd – A Story I Heard Somewhere – I’m Right Here Discussion Questions Posted
