#NonficNov: Nonfiction November is Coming!

September 23, 2019 Uncategorized 20

It’s that time, everyone! I’m so excited to be able to announce that Nonfiction November 2019 is in the works. I’ll be co-hosting again this year, along with Julz of Julz Reads, Rennie of What’s Nonfiction, Sarah of Sarah’s Book Shelves, and Leann of Shelf Aware. The event this year will run from Oct 28 – Nov 30. We’ll use our usual hashtag, #NonficNov, and will follow the same structure as last year, where we post one prompt per week. One of the hosts will have a link-up for each prompt where you can share your responses. We’ll also have an Instragram challenge you can join in on. See below for all of the details!

Week 1: (Oct. 28 to Nov. 1) – Your Year in Nonfiction (Julz of Julz Reads): Take a look back at your year of nonfiction and reflect on the following questions – What was your favorite nonfiction read of the year? Do you have a particular topic you’ve been attracted to more this year? What nonfiction book have you recommended the most? What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November?

Week 2: (Nov. 4 to 8) – Book Pairing (Sarah of Sarah’s Book Shelves): This week, pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title. It can be a “If you loved this book, read this!” or just two titles that you think would go well together. Maybe it’s a historical novel and you’d like to get the real history by reading a nonfiction version of the story.

Week 3: (Nov. 11 to 15) – Be The Expert/Ask the Expert/Become the Expert (Katie at Doing Dewey): Three ways to join in this week! You can either share 3 or more books on a single topic that you have read and can recommend (be the expert), you can put the call out for good nonfiction on a specific topic that you have been dying to read (ask the expert), or you can create your own list of books on a topic that you’d like to read (become the expert)

Week 4: (Nov. 18 to 22) – Nonfiction Favorites (Leann of Shelf Aware): We’ve talked about how you pick nonfiction books in previous years, but this week I’m excited to talk about what makes a book you’ve read one of your favorites. Is the topic pretty much all that matters? Are there particular ways a story can be told or particular writing styles that you love? Do you look for a light, humorous approach or do you prefer a more serious tone? Let us know what qualities make you add a nonfiction book to your list of favorites.

Week 5: (Nov. 25 to 29) – New to My TBR (Rennie of What’s Nonfiction): It’s been a month full of amazing nonfiction books! Which ones have made it onto your TBR? Be sure to link back to the original blogger who posted about that book

Instagram Challenge

This year we’ll also be bringing back an Instagram photo challenge for Nonfiction November, co-hosted by Julie(@JulzReads) and Leann (@Shelf_Aware_). We’re still working out the prompts, and will announce them on Instagram closer to the kickoff. If you’re interested in participating in Nonfiction November but don’t have a blog, feel free to join us on Instagram and Litsy using the hashtag #NonficNov.

I’m so glad you all are doing this again! It’s one of my favorite bookish/blogging events of the year, and I’m already starting to plan my TBR! Thank you for hosting!

Woohoooo! This is always such a good event and I get so many recommendations — which is perilous, really, because I have a QUOTA of nonfiction reads that I am not allowed to exceed. But even so! I am greedy for the recs!

Oh no, a cap on nonfiction reading? I’m clutching my pearls right now :p Even without a cap, I find the event a bit perilous for my TBR. I’m glad you’re looking forward to it too 🙂
