Summary: This was a beautiful, emotional read that felt incredibly real despite the extraordinary and suspenseful plot.
For Grace Bradshaw, having a date set for her execution only makes her desire to reconnect with her daughter more urgent. Her daughter Sophie is less certain she’s interested in reconnecting with her mother. Tired of the unwanted attention she received with her mother on death’s row, she concealed her mother’s existence from her husband and his family. With time running out, Sophie must quickly decide if she believes her mother is innocent and if reconnecting with her is worth the risk to her marriage.
The emotions of the characters in this book felt so raw and real. As I was reading, I felt as though this story could really be happening. It was beautiful, moving, emotional. I think it would be a perfect book to pair with Just Mercy, since it addresses the same question through the lens of fiction. The ending came very close to making me cry (this could be happy or sad, so don’t take this as a spoiler!) and I think the only reason it didn’t is because I anticipated what the ending would be.
Although I wish the ending had impacted me a tiny bit more, I thought this book was amazing. The author did an incredible job with beautiful and believable writing. I have a hard time imagining many of the bloggers and blog followers I interact with not being glad they picked this up. Highly recommended. This sounds really intriguing. Since my mother died three years ago, I have been fascinated with mother-daughter relationships, especially their endings by death.
I’m going to put With Love from the Inside on my TBR list. Thanks for the recommendation!

How extraordinary that someone can conceal two things – that their mother is live and she’s about to be executed. That daughter must be brilliant at fudging information.

It’s true!
