I like the idea of southern lit, but a lot of times either family drama or racial tensions with a high probability of violence make it something I’m not really drawn too. This book made me want to give it more of a chance though because Sugar was such a fantastic character :)

I like what you’ve said about the anorexia. It’s important not to look at the issue in a bad way because that wouldn’t do any favours, but to have made everything improve so soon would also not be good. Seems the author created a realistic balance.
