Book to Movie Challenge Update

poster3Today I have a couple of exciting updates for this year’s Book to Movie Challenge. This year for the challenge, Sergio of Tipping My Fedora reviewed over 20 books and their movie adaptations while I’ve been working pretty hard to meet my goal of 12. So I thought, you know who should be co-hosting this challenge? Sergio. So I asked if he’d be interested and he said yes! That means that for two of the quarterly round-ups, Sergio will be doing posts updating you on how the challenge is going while I do the other two. Once the linky for adding reviews goes live next year, you’ll also be able to add reviews at a post on his blog as well as here at Doing Dewey.

Also, we have a new challenge level! Since there are some people like Sergio who review an awful lot of movies, I thought we should have a challenge level that’s actually a bit of a challenge for them. So today we’re adding the Movie Auteur level. If, like me, you hadn’t heard the word “auteur” before, here’s the google definition: a filmmaker whose personal influence and artistic control over a movie are so great that the filmmaker is regarded as the author of the movie. So there you have it folks! If you’re someone who watches a lot of movies, feel free to upgrade your challenge level. And if you love a good book to movie review, be sure to check out Sergio’s blog Tipping My Fedora.

Gaaah. I just started writing movie reviews on Amazon and it felt weird because I couldn’t fully explain my thoughts about a certain movie. I don’t know the right terms to use which resulted to me utilizing the book review terms.

Good luck toy this new endeavor of your, Katie and Sergio. I hope you’ll be able to achieve your target. And I am quite interested to see what movies you will be reviewing. :D

I think I’d be really bad at reviewing movies if I tried to do more than say whether or not it resembled the book and whether or not it’s enjoyable. For instance, I do a pretty bad job paying attention to acting quality. Thanks for your support :)

Ah this is going to be such a fun event! I don’t watch as much movies as I should, so this will be a great way for me to get some recommendations on new films to watch. :) Good for Sergio for being so on top of the challenge!

I’m excited about it! I don’t watch many movies either, so I’ve enjoyed running this challenge as a way to watch more. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised at the number of movies I find based on books now that I’m looking for them,

Halfway through last year I decided I did not want to do challenges anymore, but I will make one exception: for the books to movies challenge. I love this challenge and I will gladly participate coming year. I already have some great books lined up that were made into movies.
Thank you very much for hosting this one again. (and Sergio as well!)
I will be going for one level higher and aim for 9 books.

    Kind regards,
